Looking for a new direction with your career?
Check out the Maricopa Skill Center Massage Therapy program!
A Massage therapist
is a master at the art of soft tissue sculpting to facilitate healing in the
body.
Program details:
Massage Therapy is a
clock hour program with a completion time of 9 months. Students are in class at
least six hours a day, Monday-Thursday. The program is offered exclusively at
MSC’s Northwest Campus.
What the students learn:
MSC allows students a
unique hands-on approach to learn the skills they will need to use in the
Massage Therapy industry. The program goes hand-in-hand by standards and
practices outlined by the State Board of Massage Therapy Licensing. Students
study anatomy, theories, benefits, contraindications and techniques relevant to
practices used to help create better structure, function, and overall well-being
for the client. When asked about the program, Instructor Michael Tapscott, 20-year
veteran of Massage Therapy and program designer said, “It’s really the most no
nonsense therapeutic based massage program I’ve ever seen. 90% of the focus is
on structural anatomy and deep tissue / myofascial work.” When asked why such a
strong focus on Therapeutic Massage, Instructor Tapscott said, “I’ve been an
employer of Massage Therapists for years and it doesn’t matter if you work in a
high end spa or a chiropractic office; it’s all about creating change in the
body. Everyone wants to feel better after they get a massage. And not just a
little bit better, but a lot! If it doesn’t create powerful physical change in
the body, we don’t teach it, because that doesn’t sell and we want graduates
who not only work but are highly sought after.”
Certificates:
Graduates of the program
will receive a Certificate in Massage Therapy from the Maricopa Skill Center as
well as a License from the State Board of Massage Therapy.
After Graduation:
Students can look
forward to jobs at private practices, spas, fitness centers, sports teams, hospitals,
rehabilitation centers and chiropractic offices.
